Cry Out for the City of Nairobi emerged from a profound spiritual awakening during a three-day prayer and fasting session in November 2022. While in worship, Prophetess Ester-Lilian Matu received a powerful divine calling to stand in the gap for Nairobi through intercessory prayer. This calling found its biblical foundation in Jeremiah 22:20, which declares, “Go up to Lebanon and cry out; let your voice be heard in Bashan.”

Through divine revelation, the Lord made clear that this cry was specifically directed against the twin evils of injustice and corruption plaguing our city, echoing the themes found throughout Jeremiah chapter 22. This vision was first put into action on December 10, 2022, when believers gathered at Charter Hall for our inaugural prayer meeting.

What began as a focused prayer movement for Nairobi has since blossomed into a broader ministry of intercession, encompassing both our nation and the entire Body of Christ. Our mission is guided by the powerful example found in 1 Chronicles 17:14, which tells us that “David reigned over Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.” This scripture continues to inspire our vision for transformative leadership and righteous governance in our land.

Today, we stand as watchmen over our city and nation, committed to persistent prayer and fasting until we see the manifestation of God’s justice, righteousness, and peace in our society. Through corporate prayer gatherings and strategic intercession, we continue to cry out for divine intervention and transformation in every sphere of our nation’s life.
